Any tips? Yes! As your session approaches, pay attention to the little ways you guys show affection, interact, and/or any other special little thing you do together that would help mark this place in time. Things like a special book you like to read together or having dance parties or matching slippers or a special cheers you do. Anything! Write them down if it helps. We’ll definitely want to capture those little things.

Parents, I’ve noted a tendency to want the spotlight to be on the kids. Don’t worry, I’ll get plenty of shots of them. Make sure you get in there with them! Hog that spotlight. You’re cute too!

EEK, it’s supposed to rain! Personally, I love all kinds of weather for photos. Just like a rainy day forces you to be creative about activities as a family, it also encourages creative photography. The focus is on you, not the weather. As far as lighting, I’m comfortable working with all kinds so don’t sweat that one bit! That said, if you’re just not feeln it, I have absolutely no problem rescheduling.

What should we wear? Whatever you want! My only rule of thumb is something you feel good/comfortable in. If that’s a cape, western attire, and a magnifying glass as an accessory, go for it! The more true to yourself and this time in your life, the better in my opinion.

Where should we go? Honestly, we don’t have to go anywhere if you don’t want to. My opinion is your home makes the best backdrop. That and/or any special spots you frequent. It really doesn’t take much. The focus will be on you guys, not the scenery.

What should we do? Whatever you enjoy doing as a family. There are no rules here either. We could go for a walk. Visit a favorite park. Stick around home and bake cookies. Play with toys. Jump on the bed (breaking the rules for photos is always fun!). We’ll basically just be hanging out. It really doesn’t take much:)

I’m stressed about cleaning my house :| Don’t be! Messes are a part of life and I’ve seen it all. I can work around and with anything. The messier the house, the more creative the photos in my opinion. If you’re more comfortable if things are picked up a bit, by all means do what you can, but don’t stress!

How many photos will be in my album? This really varies from session to session. Best estimation is 75 images for a typical family session. My emphasis is on quality – of image and storytelling – not quantity, but I do have trouble stopping:)

How will I receive the images? I’ll provide a link to an online gallery where you can download full resolution copies to backup and print wherever and whenever you please. There is also access to professional printing services provided at cost to ensure your images have the best color/quality possible. Then, I’ll get to work on your photo book and you’ll receive that once it’s back from the printer.

What rights do I have to the images? Yes, for Personal Use only. If you want to sell your photos, use them for marketing, or anything beyond personal use, additional licensing/permission will be required. Please reach out to me if that’s the case.
